How completely can experience take you?
Thirty-four statements, about six minutes. For each, answer how often it is true of you: never, rarely, sometimes, often, very often. There are no right answers and no way to do well; the only useful answer is the honest one.
This is a published instrument: the Tellegen Absorption Scale in its modern form, MODTAS (Jamieson, 2005), the standard measure of the absorption trait. It measures your disposition, the ceiling of how deeply experience can absorb you, not how deep any one sitting goes. Your result is saved to your profile and, like everything here, joins the record.
Your absorption
A trait is a ceiling, not a depth gauge: how far any single sitting takes you is mostly the state you bring to it. The scale simply tells you how much room your attention has to give itself away, and it is one of the best-validated numbers in the study of consciousness.
